Starting My Bulk: Month One

2026-03-29

Life

Almost a month in. I figured I'd start writing about this because I need something to hold myself accountable.

Where I started

I came in at 69kg with no real structure to my eating or training. The goal is to get to 80kg, so I've got about 11kg to go. Not in a rush, but I want to do it properly — actually put on muscle, not just eat everything and wonder why I feel like garbage.

Where I'm at now

Current weight: 72kg Muscle mass: 33kg Body fat: 19%

Three kilos in a month feels good. I know some of it is water and food weight but I'll take it. The muscle mass number is the one I'm actually watching.

The split

I'm training 4 days a week max. Any more than that and recovery starts to suffer, so I'm keeping it tight:

  • Pull day — back and core. Rows, pulldowns, cable work, then some core at the end.
  • Push day — chest and shoulders. Bench, overhead press, lateral raises.
  • Leg day — done twice. Squats, leg press, Romanian deadlifts. Leg day gets priority not just because I don't want chicken legs, but because heavy leg training spikes testosterone, which helps everything else grow too.

Simple structure. I'm not trying to reinvent anything.

Eating

The eating side is where I'm actually putting the most thought. I'm eating more across the board — bigger meals, fewer gaps — and I've added Carnivore Mass Gainer on top of that. It stacks calories and protein without having to force down another full meal, which makes hitting a surplus a lot more manageable day to day.

The first couple weeks my stomach wasn't happy about the sudden volume increase. That's settled down now.

Honest thoughts so far

Consistency is easier than I expected with 4 days because I never feel completely wrecked. There's always enough recovery time before the next session. The eating is still the harder part — some days I'm just not hungry but I eat anyway because that's the job.

I do notice the difference though. Things feel a bit easier. I look slightly less like I've never touched a weight in my life.

Next checkpoint

I'll write another update when I hit 75kg or at the 2 month mark, whichever comes first. Keeping an eye on body fat — want to stay around 20% or below while the weight climbs.
